Tennis Stars Osteria Delbianco Restaurant

New York City, NY — As the US Open progresses, tennis stars are fueling up at a popular Italian restaurant in Midtown. Osteria Delbianco on East 49th Street has become a dining hotspot for players like World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz.

Last week, Sinner and Alcaraz unexpectedly dined at the same time. “We run into each other. Just was a coincidence,” Alcaraz shared with reporters. Alcaraz returned for a second visit Monday night, bringing along an entourage of 11 that included his father and coach.

Chef Gustavo Hodzic noted that Alcaraz enjoyed gnocchi with ragu and truffle, along with grilled fish and roasted potatoes. “He knows what he likes,” Hodzic said.

Sinner, who has been visiting the restaurant since it opened in 2020, favors the pasta with bolognese sauce and often orders veal and scallops. “Sinner, he like the pasta with the bolognese sauce,” Hodzic remarked.

Players often dine at Osteria Delbianco to carb-load before matches. Sinner’s upcoming opponent Lorenzo Musetti also visited the restaurant recently, continuing the trend of players prepping for their games in a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Hodzic described the restaurant’s environment: “They feel very relaxed here. They feel at home.” This comfort, combined with the close proximity to their hotels, makes the Osteria a favorite among pros.

As the tournament heats up, both Sinner and Alcaraz are performing well on the court. Alcaraz has advanced to the semifinals, while Sinner is set to face Musetti in the quarterfinals. The camaraderie between the two stars was evident during their surprise encounter at the restaurant.

“They talked, they laughed. They had a very good time,” Hodzic said. With such visits, it’s clear that Osteria Delbianco is not just a dining spot but also a social hub for tennis stars.
