Texas Lottery Sees Big Wins Amidst Growing Jackpots

ABILENE, Texas — The stakes were high for lottery players across Texas on Wednesday night as the Powerball drawing featured a staggering jackpot of $80.75 million. Players from cities like Abilene to Zapata were on edge, hoping for a shot at life-changing prizes similar to those seen in recent months.
Despite the buzz, no tickets sold matched the winning numbers for the top Powerball prize. However, one lucky ticket purchased in Mississippi secured a $1 million win, thanks to the Power Play option, increasing the payout to $2 million. This win marked a notable achievement for Mississippi, which has only participated in Powerball since 2018.
The excitement turned to Texas, where players learned that a ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball, leading to a $150,000 win. The Texas Lottery confirmed this ticket was sold in Austin, repeating a trend of significant wins from the Lone Star State.
The winning Powerball numbers drawn were 21, 32, 36, 45, 49, with a Powerball of 18 and a Power Play multiplier of 3. While the evening did not produce a single jackpot winner, it did see more than two dozen winners in the Lotto Texas game, with 20 tickets earning $1,755 and another eight players taking home $11,175 for matching five of six numbers.
Considering the potential of hitting it big, lottery players are eagerly awaiting the next round of draws, including Friday’s Lotto Texas game, which has an estimated jackpot of $5 million.
“Most lottery tickets sold are not winners,” cautioned a spokesperson from the Texas Lottery. “Play for fun, not for your future.” For those who may be struggling with gambling habits, assistance is available through the National Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-GAMBLER.
