Third Accuser Details Harvey Weinstein’s ‘Monster’ Behavior in Retrial

NEW YORK, NY — The third accuser in Harvey Weinstein‘s retrial took the stand Monday and described his transformation into a ‘monster’ during their relationship, which initially seemed consensual. Mann, an aspiring actress, testified in Manhattan Supreme Court about her experiences with Weinstein, who was previously convicted for rape.
Mann recalled that she first met Weinstein in 2013 at a Hollywood party. She mentioned that he took her to Book Soup, where he purchased industry-related materials for her. Later, he invited her to his hotel room to discuss a script for ‘Vampire Academy.’ However, Mann recounted that he called her into the bedroom and performed unwanted oral sex on her.
Despite this traumatic encounter, Mann started a relationship with Weinstein, which she described as a difficult decision. “I just decided to have a relationship with him. I’m sorry if that’s a bad decision. I just did,” she tearfully explained on the stand.
Mann characterized Weinstein as a ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ figure, acknowledging his moments of validation about her beauty and career, while warning that hearing the word ‘no’ could trigger a dangerous reaction. She described an incident in March 2013, when she alleged that Weinstein raped her in a Manhattan hotel room after he had tricked her into following him upstairs.
<p“I didn’t want to go into a room with him,” Mann said, recalling her desperation as she tried to signal hotel staff for help. She was visibly emotional as she recounted pleading for anyone to assist her.
Inside the room, Mann alleged that Weinstein forced her to undress before assaulting her. “This is about the moment where I just gave up,” she shared, explaining how she felt compelled to comply with his demands.
Weinstein, appearing in court in a wheelchair, shook his head as Mann narrated her experience. She noted that after the attack, she didn’t report it to authorities, fearing disbelief and backlash due to his power in the industry.
Mann continued to stay in contact with Weinstein, even praising him in emails. She admitted that her motivations were complicated, including her strong desire to pursue an acting career. “I never took money from him. I never wanted his dirty money. I wasn’t for sale,” she insisted in her testimony as her emotions overflowed.
Mann is the final accuser to testify in the retrial, which is centered around her rape allegation alongside claims from two other women, including Miriam Haley and Kaja Sokola, who have also accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct. The trial has resurfaced discussions on the power dynamics in the entertainment industry and the importance of accountability for alleged perpetrators.
Testimony will continue Tuesday as the case unfolds in the Manhattan courtroom.
