St. Thomas-Elgin Gears Up for Grand Canada Day Celebrations
St. Thomas-Elgin is abuzz with excitement as the region prepares for the grand celebrations of Canada Day tomorrow. Festivities are set to take place across various locations, promising a fun-filled day for residents and visitors alike.
The community of Fingal will kickstart the celebrations at the Fingal Baseball Park with an evening of entertainment, food vendors, games, and music beginning at 7:30 p.m. It’s the perfect way to set the festive mood for the national holiday.
Heading over to the Visitor’s Centre, free Canada Day cupcakes courtesy of Foodland Port Stanley will be available to all from noon until supplies last. It’s a sweet treat to enjoy as part of the patriotic celebrations.
Sons of Scotland Park will host a full-day event, starting with the Fire Department Breakfast at 8 a.m. A lineup of activities is planned throughout the day, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display at dusk, promising a dazzling end to the day.
In Aylmer, the Canada Day Parade will commence from the Royal Canadian Legion at 10:30 a.m., followed by an exciting Harvard formation flyover at 12:30 p.m., adding a touch of aviation flair to the celebrations.
Residents of Port Stanley will gather at Don Yeck Park following a festive Decorated Bicycle Parade at 11:30 a.m. A hot dog lunch, cake, and face painting will be available from noon until 2 p.m., leading up to a breath-taking fireworks show after dusk.
Over in West Lorne, the Canada Day festivities will take place at Miller Park, with opening ceremonies starting at 3 p.m. and a range of family-friendly activities scheduled until 8 p.m. Live music will keep the energy high before the fireworks light up the sky at nightfall.
The vibrant celebration in 1Password Park begins at 4 p.m., with a warm welcome speech from the Mayor and free ice cream cake from The Ice Box at 6 p.m. A variety of activities including face painting, inflatables, games, and a petting zoo will ensure a fun time for all attendees.
Wrapping up the day, the East Elgin Community Complex will host the Canada Day celebration starting at 5 p.m. Live entertainment, a petting zoo, face painting, and a photo booth will be among the attractions for families to enjoy.
