Thomas Markle Philippines Earthquake Safety

LOS ANGELES, CA — Thomas Markle denied claims made by his daughter Samantha, stating he is safe and not trapped in the Philippines following a recent earthquake. The 6.9-magnitude tremor shook the province of Cebu on Monday, prompting Samantha to claim on social media that her father was stuck on the 19th floor of his hotel.

In a conversation with TMZ, Thomas asserted that he is currently staying in his hotel room, which was not impacted by the quake. He emphasized, “The epicenter was 100 miles from here,” and added, “I’m quite comfortable.” He reported enjoying his time watching Charlie Chan movies while relaxing on his couch.

Thomas revealed that his trip to the Philippines is part of a scouting mission as he plans to move from Mexico. Despite Samantha’s claims, he stated he has not spoken to her and is baffled by the idea that he is trapped.

Samantha Markle initially shared her concerns on September 30, expressing her worries that their father was unable to leave the apartment building due to his mobility issues. Following public concern, she later updated her followers, noting that he was safe but making plans to exit the building.

“I wish to extend our deep gratitude to everyone expressing concern about my father. Thank you. As of today, he is OK and making plans to get out of that building,” Samantha wrote.

Reports after the earthquake indicated that at least 60 individuals were killed, raising alarms about the situation. However, Thomas insisted that his hotel was unaffected.

As the family drama unfolds, Thomas confirmed he still has not spoken to his estranged daughter, Meghan Markle, further complicating family dynamics.
