Thousands Experience Outages with National Lottery App and Website
Recent reports have indicated that numerous users across the United Kingdom are facing technical difficulties with both the National Lottery‘s mobile application and website. This widespread issues have left many players frustrated as they are unable to access their accounts.
At approximately 6:30 am today, over 1,500 user complaints were noted regarding the inability to log into the app. This follows a notable uptick in complaints the previous night, with Downdetector registering around 2,200 outages around 11 pm.
The statistics reveal that about 53% of the reported anomalies are attributed to the app, while the site itself accounts for around 41% of the issues. The remaining 6% were linked to login problems. Reports of outages have been observed nationally, with significant hotspots recorded in major cities such as Glasgow, Manchester, and London.
The National Lottery’s official Twitter account acknowledged the problem, stating, “We are aware that some players are having issues accessing our website and app. We apologize for the inconvenience, and our team is actively investigating the matter to determine the cause of the outages.”
Social media users, particularly on X, formerly known as Twitter, voiced their frustrations regarding the ongoing issues. One user expressed their annoyance by commenting, “Come on @TNLUK, your app and website have been down since 9 pm last night. It’s unbelievable that it hasn’t been resolved after such a long time.”
Another user queried, “Has anyone been able to log in to the National Lottery website or app since 9 pm last night? @TNLUK Will this issue be rectified in time for today’s draw or will it take longer to fix?”
A third individual humorously pointed out the ongoing problems, remarking, “The National Lottery app is acting up, possibly due to today’s tech chaos.”
The official response on Twitter indicated that they were aware of the challenges players were facing and assured users that the situation was being investigated. In the meantime, users are left in limbo, unable to access vital functions such as checking their winnings or purchasing tickets.
The downtime has spurred concerns amongst lottery enthusiasts, especially since it coincided with the Euro Millions results announcement, which raised further questions about the state of the National Lottery’s operations. One individual lamented, “I received an email from The National Lottery stating I’ve won a prize, but I can’t verify how much due to the ongoing app and website issues.”
With a significant number of users reporting difficulties, it remains uncertain what specifically triggered this outage. Some speculate it may be linked to a broader tech malfunction that has affected various sectors recently. For instance, many companies, including airlines and banks, experienced significant disruptions following a related security update, which left numerous computers offline.
As technical teams work diligently to rectify these issues, millions of lottery players are left waiting with hope that their access will be restored soon, ensuring they can participate in future draws and enjoy the benefits of the National Lottery services.
