Three Arrested in Palm Beach Gardens Drug Bust, Overdose Incident
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) — Three individuals were arrested Friday in connection with an alleged drug operation after Palm Beach Gardens Police Department (PBGPD) officers seized an ounce of cocaine, pills, methamphetamine, and other narcotics. The suspects, identified as William Charles Griffis, 34, Regina Maglio, 62, and Rhianne Unfer, 32, were taken into custody following an undercover operation.
According to PBGPD, an undercover officer used a cellphone to arrange the purchase of 20 Adderall pills from Griffis at his apartment on Military Trail. At approximately 2:40 p.m., a blue Mitsubishi dropped off Maglio, who was identified by Griffis as his drug dealer. She entered the residence, and shortly after, the undercover officer approached the location, where Griffis allegedly threw a baggie containing the pills.
After Griffis was handcuffed, Maglio and Unfer exited the apartment. A search warrant executed at the residence uncovered a significant quantity of drugs, including 49 grams of cocaine, 40 Adderall pills, muscle relaxers, opiates, unmarked pressed pills, Xanax, fentanyl residue, and six grams of crystal methamphetamine. Drug paraphernalia such as scales, capsules, baggies, and straws were also found.
During the operation, Maglio showed signs of overdosing and was administered Narcan by Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue before being transported to the hospital. While at the hospital, Maglio attempted to escape but was thwarted by a locked exit door requiring a code.
Maglio faces multiple charges, including the sale of Adderall, trafficking cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, Xanax, fentanyl, and oxycodone, as well as attempting to escape custody. Griffis was charged with the sale of Adderall, trafficking cocaine, and possession of methamphetamine, Xanax, and fentanyl. Unfer was charged with possession of fentanyl, trafficking cocaine, and possession of methamphetamine.
The arrests highlight ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes in the area. The PBGPD has urged residents to report suspicious activities and remain vigilant.
