Three Killed, One Injured in Fiery Tesla Cybertruck Crash in Piedmont, California
Early Wednesday morning, a tragic accident occurred in Piedmont, California, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuring one other in a fiery Tesla Cybertruck crash. The incident happened around 3:08 a.m. at the intersection of Hampton Road and King Avenue, according to Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers.
The Tesla Cybertruck, which was carrying four occupants, crashed and became engulfed in flames. First responders found the vehicle wedged between a retaining wall and a tree, with the fire too intense for their extinguishers to be effective.
Three of the occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth person was pulled out of the vehicle by a member of the public who had been following the Cybertruck. The injured person was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
Police Chief Jeremy Bowers indicated that speed was likely a contributing factor in the collision, although the full investigation is ongoing to determine other possible factors. Bowers also noted that there was no indication that recent mechanical recalls of the Cybertruck were the primary cause of the crash.
The victims, who were reportedly 2023 graduates of Piedmont High School, were not identified by police out of respect for their families. The incident occurred just a day before Thanksgiving, adding to the tragedy and grief for the families involved.
