Miss Universe Winners Red Dress

Mexico City, Mexico – The upcoming 74th edition of Miss Universe brings a unique connection between three former winners from Mexico: Lupita Jones, Ximena Navarrete, and Andrea Meza. Each of these beauty queens made history while wearing striking red dresses during the finals of the prestigious pageant.

Lupita Jones first gained international recognition in 1991, becoming Mexico’s first Miss Universe. Her deep V-neck, off-shoulder gown, designed by Ricardo Juárez, became iconic and symbolized her win.

In 2010, Ximena Navarrete followed in Jones’ footsteps, also wearing a red dress. Her stunning gown, designed by Benito Santos from Guadalajara, marked a turning point in his career, skyrocketing his visibility in the fashion world. Five years later, Navarrete celebrated her win by launching a special clothing line as a tribute to her iconic dress.

More recently, Andrea Meza, crowned in 2021, highlighted her cultural roots with another red gown. Inspired by the legendary muses of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, Meza’s dress took an entire year to create, reflecting her elegance and connection to Mexican heritage.

These three strong women continue to represent Mexico proudly on the international stage, sharing a bond not only through their victories but also through the symbolic color red, which has come to represent their nation’s proud history in beauty pageants.
