Three Shot at Denver House Party, Suspect Still at Large
DENVER, Colorado — Early Sunday morning, three people were shot at a house party in Denver, prompting a police investigation into the incident. The shooting occurred shortly before 2 a.m. in the 5100 block of North Biscay Court, as officers responded to reports of a large fight, according to Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas.
When officers arrived, they heard gunshots and saw several individuals fleeing the scene. Chief Thomas stated they encountered one man brandishing a firearm. Despite orders to drop the weapon, the suspect did not comply and “continued to be a threat.” In response, one officer discharged his weapon toward the suspect, roughly 10 minutes before the clock rolled back for Daylight Saving Time, Thomas noted.
The suspect was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries after the incident. However, police have not confirmed whether the injuries were a result of the officer’s gunfire. Upon searching the vicinity, officers located two handguns and three gunshot victims who had been harmed before the police’s arrival. Fortunately, all three victims sustained only minor injuries and are expected to survive.
“This is an active scene that we’re still investigating, trying to determine exactly what happened and exactly who all was involved,” Chief Thomas stated during a briefing. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to reach out to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
