TikTok Star Beandri Booysen Passes Away at 19 Due to Rare Aging Disease

Beandri Booysen, a beloved TikTok personality and advocate for progeria awareness, has passed away at the age of 19. Her mother, Bea Booysen, confirmed the news in a recent Facebook post. Beandri was diagnosed with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes rapid aging in children.

Beandri, who resided in Doornpoort, Pretoria, South Africa, was the last surviving individual in the country living with progeria. Despite her health challenges, she gained a significant following on TikTok, with over 269,000 followers and more than 372,000 likes on her videos. Her content and spirit inspired thousands of people worldwide.

In recent months, Beandri faced a critical health issue with aortic stenosis, a condition where her aortic valve was dangerously obstructed, limiting blood flow from her heart. Additionally, calcification in her aorta added further complications. A BackaBuddy campaign was initiated in October to raise funds for her to undergo open-heart surgery, which was described as her ‘biggest challenge yet’.

Bea Booysen praised her daughter for radiating hope and joy despite the numerous challenges she faced. Beandri became a symbol of awareness for progeria and other special needs, using her unique spirit to inspire many. The family has requested privacy during this difficult period and will share details regarding the memorial service in due course.
