Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Expecting First Child, Share Excitement

ORLANDO, Fla. – Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow and his wife, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, are expecting their first child, the couple revealed exclusively to PEOPLE. The announcement comes as they prepare to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary on Jan. 20.

“We are just so excited and so over the moon to be having a baby together,” Demi-Leigh, 29, told PEOPLE. Tebow, 37, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m honored for the privilege of getting the responsibility and the joy of being mom and dad.”

The couple, who married in January 2020 after meeting in 2018, shared their excitement about starting a family. Demi-Leigh, a former Miss Universe, is currently 16 weeks pregnant. She described the experience as surreal, adding, “Every time I say, ‘Tim’s going to be a dad!’ it feels so unreal.”

Tebow, a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback and former professional baseball player, reflected on the profound impact of the news. “It’s amazing how it reprioritizes and changes what you put an emphasis on and what you value most,” he said. “News like that just supersedes the level of importance and the level of joy that you have.”

Demi-Leigh praised her husband’s qualities, calling him “extremely gracious” and “one of the wisest people” she knows. “I’m so grateful that Tim is my husband… that we get to do parenting together,” she said. Tebow, in turn, highlighted his wife’s determination and loyalty, predicting she will be a “fierce defender and protector” as a mother.

The couple also discussed the challenges of pregnancy, with Demi-Leigh admitting her first trimester “wasn’t super fun” due to extreme tiredness. However, she expressed gratitude for the experience, saying, “I have loved being pregnant… I have gained the absolute just new respect for moms, especially moms that are working.”

As they prepare for parenthood, the Tebows emphasized the importance of their shared faith and values. “Our Savior gave us the ultimate amount of grace, and I see Tim live that out as a walking example every single day,” Demi-Leigh said. Tebow added that their deep friendship and the roots they’ve built over the past five years will guide them as they raise their child.
