Today Show Hosts Celebrate 30th Anniversary of Halloween Costumes with Iconic Movie Characters
The Today show marked the 30th anniversary of its annual Halloween costume reveal with a grand celebration on October 31, 2024. This year, the hosts paid homage to beloved movie characters from the ’80s, ’90s, and early ’00s. Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager stole the show by transforming into Jack and Rose from the classic film “Titanic,” complete with intricate costumes and a heartfelt nod to the movie’s iconic scenes.
The entire Today show team participated in the festive tradition, with each host dressing up as a character from a different movie. Savannah Guthrie and Luke Wilson recreated the looks of Elle Woods and Emmett from “Legally Blonde,” while Willie Geist embodied Ron Burgundy from “Anchorman.” Other notable costumes included Carson Daly as Austin Powers, Sheinelle Jones as Foxxy Cleopatra from “Austin Powers in Goldmember,” and Peter Alexander as Mrs. Doubtfire from “Mrs. Doubtfire”.
Craig Melvin dressed as Axel Foley from “Beverly Hills Cop,” and Laura Jarrett took on the role of Isis from “Bring it On.” The show also featured Dylan Dreyer and Al Roker in their respective costumes, adding to the colorful and nostalgic theme of the day.
This year’s event was particularly special for Hoda Kotb, who announced that this would be her last Today Halloween costume reveal. Kotb and her co-host Jenna Bush Hager made the most of the moment, capturing the essence of the Titanic’s star-crossed lovers with their costumes and a heartfelt message.
The tradition, which began in 1994 after the opening of NBC‘s Studio 1A and the iconic outdoor Plaza, has become a highly anticipated event for fans. Over the years, the Today show hosts have dressed up in a variety of themes, from music icons to other memorable movie characters, always bringing fresh, fun, and fabulous looks to the table).
