Tom Hanks and Robin Wright Star in Robert Zemeckis’ New Film ‘Here’
Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks is set to star alongside Robin Wright in the upcoming film ‘Here‘, directed by the renowned filmmaker Robert Zemeckis. This new cinematic event, scheduled to open theatrically on November 1, 2024, is an American domestic drama adapted from Richard McGuire‘s graphic novel of the same name.
The film is unique in its storytelling approach, shot entirely from a single fixed camera angle in the corner of a suburban home. This technique allows viewers to witness the lives of Richard (Tom Hanks) and Margaret Young (Robin Wright) and their family over multiple generations. The story spans a century, capturing significant events such as marriages, births, anniversaries, and tragedies that shape the Young family’s history.
Despite the distinct narrative, ‘Here’ draws connections to another iconic film by Zemeckis and Hanks, ‘Forrest Gump‘. Although there is no official story connection between the two films, they share key creative forces. Eric Roth, who wrote the Oscar-winning script for ‘Forrest Gump’, co-adapted the screenplay for ‘Here’. Additionally, composer Alan Silvestri, who has worked with Zemeckis since 1984 and scored ‘Forrest Gump’, has composed the music for ‘Here’, marking a 40-year collaboration with Zemeckis.
‘Here’ also marks the fifth collaboration between Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis, who have consistently pushed the boundaries of cinema with films like ‘Forrest Gump’, ‘Cast Away‘, ‘The Polar Express‘, and ‘Pinocchio‘. The film features Tom Hanks and Robin Wright portraying lovers for the first time since their work on ‘Forrest Gump’, further tying the two projects together.
