Tom Schwartz Discusses Friendship with Tom Sandoval Amid Past Tensions

NEW YORK, NY — Tom Schwartz has shared a positive update on his friendship with Tom Sandoval, indicating that they have moved past their previous tensions. In a recent episode of “Watch What Happens Live” aired on June 17, Schwartz spoke openly about their relationship. Host Andy Cohen asked Schwartz how he would characterize his current friendship with Sandoval.
“I think we’re in a better place now,” Schwartz replied. “I was very resentful for a long time, but I’ve let that go, and I feel like we’re in a good place again.” The two have had a rocky relationship over the past two years, largely due to challenges stemming from their joint venture, Schwartz & Sandy’s, and personal conflicts.
Schwartz had previously admitted that the financial struggles during the pandemic strained their friendship. “The financial aspect really put our relationship to the test and almost destroyed our friendship at one point… I have closure,” he explained during the episode.
Their restaurant has since shut down, which Schwartz believes was a turning point for both men. He noted that they have made significant strides in mending their bond after the closure. In the months following, Schwartz attended a concert in which Sandoval performed with his cover band, joining him on stage for a rendition of “Schwartz’s Mom,” a spin on Fountains of Wayne‘s hit.
During a separate appearance, Schwartz elaborated on his new perspective. He described having healthy boundaries regarding their past issues and said he is no longer burdened by resentment. “I have my peace, I have my boundaries now. And any sort of lingering resentment with Sandoval, it’s like compartmentalized… It’s tucked away. It’s gone but not forgotten,” he stated.
Despite their rocky past, Schwartz’s recent comments suggest a willingness to move forward and maintain their friendship, focusing on the positive aspects of their relationship.
