Tornado Confirmed in Burnet County Amid Severe Weather Alerts

BURNET COUNTY, Texas — A tornado was confirmed on the ground Thursday afternoon in Northeast Burnet County as severe weather swept through the area. The National Weather Service announced the tornado’s presence via X at approximately 4:39 p.m.
Residents in the vicinity of the storm are advised to seek shelter until the situation clears. The tornado’s formation followed a hailstorm that produced hailstones reported to be 1.75 inches in diameter, according to CBS Austin‘s Chief Meteorologist Chikage Windler.
The initial Tornado Warning was valid until 5 p.m. but has since been canceled. However, officials are urging caution as the storm could cause considerable damage.
As the storm progresses, CBS Austin has dispatched a crew to provide ongoing coverage and updates on the tornado’s impact and any emerging developments.
