The tornado did not cause any damage to structures, according to reports. However, eyewitnesses described the storm’s impressive funnel shape as it kicked up dirt in the area. “This is a really well-developed funnel. It has that Wizard of Oz rope look to it,” said one storm chaser.
Another storm tracker, Marty Logan, reported seeing the tornado stir up dust near the Cargill salt plant located on the outskirts of Freedom. There were no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage in the vicinity of the tornado.
As the event unfolded, tornado warnings were in effect for Harper, Woods, and Woodward counties until 7:00 p.m. Additionally, a severe thunderstorm watch was issued for Major and Woodward counties until midnight.
