Tornado Warnings in Effect for Central Texas Amid Severe Weather

Texas Tornado Warnings Storm Alerts

WEATHERFORD, Texas — A tornado watch remains valid until midnight CDT tonight for 13 counties in central Texas as severe weather continues to threaten the area. The counties included in this watch are Comanche, Cooke, Denton, Eastland, Erath, Grayson, Hood, Jack, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, and Wise.

This watch encompasses several cities, including Bowie, Briar, Bridgeport, Carrollton, Cisco, Comanche, De Leon, Decatur, Denison, Denton, Dublin, Eastland, Flower Mound, Gainesville, Glen Rose, Gorman, Granbury, Jackboro, Lewisville, Mineral Wells, Nocona, Oak Trail Shores, Ranger, Sherman, Stephenville, and Weatherford.

A tornado warning also remains in effect until 10:15 PM CDT for central Parker County. At 9:49 PM CDT, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado, located near Western Lake, approximately 10 miles southwest of Weatherford, moving north at 35 mph.

The storm is hazardous, producing potential tornado activity and quarter-sized hail. The National Weather Service advises that flying debris from the storm can be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Damage to mobile homes is likely, along with destruction to roofs, windows, and vehicles, and significant tree damage.

Forecasts predict the storm will be near Brock, Weatherford, and Western Lake around 9:55 PM CDT. Other areas at risk include Brock Junction, Adell, Peaster, Authon, Dennis, Tin Top, Horseshoe Bend, Annetta North, Garner, and Lake Granbury.

A separate tornado warning also remains in effect until 10:00 PM CDT for Parker County. At 9:46 PM CDT, radar confirmed a severe storm capable of producing a tornado located 7 miles northeast of Cool, approximately 10 miles northwest of Weatherford, moving northeast at 35 mph.

This storm poses similar hazards, including potential dangerous flying debris. Areas expected to be impacted by this storm include Poolville around 9:55 PM CDT and Springtown around 10:05 PM CDT. Other locations at risk include Brock Junction, Adell, Peaster, Agnes, Whitt, Bennett, Advance, Authon, Garner, and Millsap.

The National Weather Service urges residents to take cover immediately. Those outdoors, in mobile homes, or in vehicles should seek substantial shelter right away. It is recommended to stay in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and to avoid windows.
