A significant vehicle incident led to the temporary closure of Highway 99, located south of Squamish, on Saturday afternoon.

Reports indicate that the situation unfolded around 2:15 PM, which prompted DriveBC to announce that two-way traffic had resumed, as vehicles were directed to utilize the northbound lanes to facilitate movement.

By approximately 3:24 PM, DriveBC confirmed that the collision had been resolved; however, motorists were warned to anticipate ongoing delays in the vicinity.

According to Corp. Madonna Saunderson from the B.C. RCMP, the crash that occurred near Murrin Lake fortunately did not result in fatalities. It was noted that while the injuries sustained were not deemed critical, two individuals were still transported to local hospitals for further evaluation.

Corp. Saunderson also mentioned that the authorities from Squamish RCMP are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a related development, the Lions Gate Bridge experienced significant traffic disruptions due to a serious collision, leading to its closure in both directions.

DriveBC has since reported that travelers can expect major delays in this area and has advised drivers to consider alternative routes while the assessment and investigation are underway.
