Tragedy Strikes CUSTECH: Two Students Killed in Kidnapping Incident
The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology, CUSTECH, Kogi State, has announced a three-day mourning period following the tragic death of two students in a kidnapping incident. The victims, James Michael-Anajuwe and Musa Hussein, both first-year students studying Information Technology and Software Engineering, were taken captive alongside their peers on May 9 as they prepared for upcoming examinations.
While security forces and local hunters successfully rescued twenty-one of the abducted students, the loss of Michael-Anajuwe and Hussein has sent shockwaves through the university community. CUSTECH Registrar, Ms Olufunke Hudson, expressed deep sorrow over the heartbreaking event and urged for solemnity and remembrance.
The university will observe low-key activities from May 27 to May 29 in honor of the slain students as a mark of respect and mourning. The entire CUSTECH management empathizes with the families and friends of the deceased, offering words of comfort and support during this difficult time.
In the face of this tragedy, the state government, under the leadership of Gov. Usman Ododo, continues to work tirelessly towards the safe rescue of the remaining kidnapped students.
