Louisville Shooting Dmv Office Police Scene

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Three individuals are dead following a shooting that occurred Friday afternoon outside a regional driver licensing office in Valley Station, Louisville Metro Police confirmed.

Authorities were alerted to the scene on Willismore Drive around noon. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim pronounced dead at the scene and two female victims who were critically injured. They were subsequently transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to their injuries. The ages of the victims have not been disclosed.

Major Donald Boeckman of the Louisville Metro Police Department stated that witnesses reported noticing multiple individuals fleeing the area in a vehicle. Despite this alarming incident, Boeckman indicated that there is no ongoing threat to the public. “It’s absolutely a tragedy, and I’m surprised there weren’t more people injured given how many were present outside,” he remarked.

The driver licensing office where the shooting occurred is one of 34 regional branches across Kentucky. In recent weeks, such offices have faced increased crowds, with many patrons frequently experiencing wait times exceeding three hours.

Currently, police are in the preliminary stages of their investigation, reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to construct a clearer picture of the event and possible suspects. “We do not have a vehicle description at this point, but we are actively collecting information,” Boeckman said.

Police have advised anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the LMPD anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). As this is an evolving situation, further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
