Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure

Tragedy struck in Gloucester as Alice Webb, a 33-year-old mother of five, passed away following a “suspected cosmetic procedure.” Gloucestershire police revealed that the incident may have involved a Brazilian butt lift, a popular cosmetic enhancement. Two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in relation to her death.

Alice Webb was admitted to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital after feeling unwell, and she sadly died early Tuesday morning. Her partner, Dane Knight, who has remained mostly private, expressed his gratitude on social media for the support shown to his family during this difficult time.

Friends and family have been quick to pay tribute to Webb, describing her as a beloved mother and friend. A friend mourning her loss said on social media, “You were the best friend anyone could ever ask for… Your family, the kids, and Dane will miss you dearly.”

The incident has raised questions and concerns about the safety of Brazilian butt lift procedures in the UK. Ashton Collins, director of Save Face, a UK register of accredited cosmetic practitioners, expressed deep concern over the safety of such procedures. “Liquid Brazilian butt lift procedures are a crisis waiting to happen,” she remarked.

Save Face has been involved in responding to over 500 cases where women suffered complications post-procedure, with reports indicating that more than half experienced life-threatening reactions, including sepsis. Collins called for urgent intervention and regulatory oversight to prevent further tragedies.

Non-surgical Brazilian butt lifts typically involve injecting dermal fillers, often composed of hyaluronic acid, into the buttocks. While these procedures are not illegal in the UK, they have faced bans in various local authorities due to safety concerns.

The Department of Health and Social Care has conveyed the importance of ensuring such procedures are conducted by reputable, insured, and qualified practitioners. A spokesperson mentioned that the government is evaluating options for regulatory oversight in the non-surgical cosmetics field.

Gloucestershire Police‘s major crime team is currently investigating the incident, and the two people arrested have been released on bail. The local community, still grappling with the incident, has expressed sorrow and concern about non-regulated cosmetic treatments.
