Tragic Death of 16-Year-Old Influencer Joshua Blackledge Shocks Community

NEWPORT, N.C. — Joshua Jeremiah Blackledge, a 16-year-old TikTok influencer with over a million followers, died unexpectedly on March 18 at his home in Newport, North Carolina. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Blackledge was a junior at West Carteret High School, where he actively participated in wrestling and track. Friends and family described him as a spirited young man with a passion for the outdoors, especially fishing and boating. He was also fond of cars and trucks, reflecting a life filled with adventure and energetic social interactions.

His family shared that Joshua enjoyed spending time helping his mother, Jackie Blackledge, with cooking, gardening, and yard work. A celebration of Joshua’s life is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, at Camp Albemarle in Newport, where community members are invited to honor his memory. His parents, Jonathan and Jackie Blackledge, and his brother, Josiah, survive him.
