Tragic Shooting at Juneteenth Celebration Leaves Two Dead in Round Rock

Tragedy struck in Round Rock, Texas, as a shooting incident at a Juneteenth celebration event in Old Settlers Park resulted in the deaths of two individuals and multiple injuries. The Round Rock Police Department responded to the scene located at 1371 Harrell Parkway following an altercation between two groups late Saturday night.

Chief Allen Banks of the Round Rock Police Department revealed that the shooting occurred around 10:50 p.m. during the event, which was meant to commemorate Juneteenth. The altercation led to the tragic deaths of two individuals and left several bystanders wounded, who were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Notably, the victims of the shooting, comprising four adults and two children, were not directly involved in the initial altercation. Chief Banks commended the quick response of police officers and the Fire Department, emphasizing that their prompt medical aid potentially saved lives during the chaotic situation.

The suspects involved in the shooting immediately fled the scene, and currently, Round Rock police do not have any individuals in custody. Authorities have urged anyone with pertinent information or footage of the incident to contact the Round Rock Police Department at 512-218-5500 to aid in the ongoing investigation.

Expressing deep condolences, Mayor Craig Morgan acknowledged the devastating impact of the incident on the Round Rock community. Mayor Morgan conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased and reassured those injured of the city’s support for their recovery.

Due to the ongoing investigation, officials have cordoned off Old Settlers Park, resulting in the cancellation of any planned activities at the park on the following morning. The community remains in shock following the tragic events and is determined to support each other through the healing process.
