Tragic Triple Shooting in Stratford, Ontario
In a shocking incident that unfolded on Thursday night, a triple shooting occurred in Stratford, Ontario, leaving two people dead and two others seriously injured.
The police have identified the shooter as 31-year-old Ricky Bilcke. They revealed that Bilcke first opened fire with a high-powered rifle, targeting Jonathan Bennett, 36, who later died in Stratford General Hospital.
Following this, Bilcke grabbed a shotgun and shot David Tokley, 43, as he was on the street. A third victim, Stephanie Irvine, was shot as she was leaving her home.
Witnesses heard multiple gunshots and described chaotic scenes, stating that police vehicles arrived within minutes of the incident. Officers found four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived.
The two surviving victims were airlifted to Victoria Hospital, where one was reported to have life-threatening injuries while the other suffered life-altering injuries.
Fortunately, police confirmed that there is no further threat to the public, stating the incident stemmed from an ongoing neighbor dispute. Authorities also mentioned they have been alerted to previous disputes between the parties involved.
Bradshaw Drive, where the shooting happened, is known for being a quiet neighborhood, and residents expressed their shock at the violence. One neighbor described the community name as “incredibly safe,” emphasizing that such incidents are rare.
In the wake of the tragedy, local officials have extended their condolences to the victims’ families and the surrounding community. The area remains closed off as investigators collect evidence and talk to witnesses.
Meanwhile, the police have asked anyone with video footage of the event to come forward, requesting that any postings related to the shooting on social media be removed out of respect for the victims.
