Tri State Area Weather Forecast Rain Showers

NEW YORK, NY – After a prolonged stretch of damp, gray days, the sun made a brief appearance Wednesday. However, rain chances are expected to rise again on Thursday afternoon and evening, with particularly heavy rainfall anticipated on Friday.

Scattered showers will affect the landscape, especially in North Jersey and the Hudson Valley. Areas north and west of the I-95 corridor should prepare for a wet evening commute, while coastal regions will remain mainly dry until later in the evening.

According to meteorologists, steady showers will blanket the tri-state overnight Thursday, with a few rumbles of thunder possible. However, no severe weather is expected. The primary concern is heavy rainfall, with the entire region under a low to moderate flood risk through Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Ulster and Dutchess counties, as river levels have already risen due to earlier rains. Experts say it may take little additional moisture to push some rivers over their banks.

Friday is expected to be a washout across the tri-state area, with rain falling from morning through evening. Residents are advised to carry umbrellas and rain jackets, as dry pockets will be rare.

Rain is projected to taper off after dinner on Friday, but lingering showers may occur early Saturday, although any wet weather should be brief. Rainfall totals are expected to reach 1 to 3 inches from this weather system, adding to the several inches already received this month.

After a final push of showers early Saturday, high pressure will settle over the tri-state area, bringing dry skies and warmer temperatures for the rest of the weekend. This means residents can look forward to picture-perfect weather for Mother’s Day on Sunday.
