Fw De Klerk Boulevard Truck Accident Cape Town

CAPE TOWN – Traffic disruptions were reported on FW de Klerk Boulevard due to a truck accident at Lower Church Street on [date of report]. According to local authorities, the incident occurred when a truck lost its load after colliding with the Lower Church bridge near Woodstock. As a result, immediate road access was restricted to ensure safety and facilitate recovery operations.

In spite of the incoming section of FW de Klerk Boulevard remaining accessible, motorists experienced significant delays, compounded by disruptions along the R27 corridor. The accident not only caused severe traffic congestion but also prompted concerns over potential damage to the infrastructure.

Maxine Bezuidenhout, a spokesperson for the city’s transportation department, confirmed that structural engineering teams were dispatched to evaluate the extent of the damage sustained by the bridge. “No traffic is being allowed to cross the bridge at this time until its structural integrity has been assessed. We advise motorists to please factor some extra travelling time into their journeys and to find alternative routes where needed,” Bezuidenhout stated.

Authorities are urging commuters to remain patient and adjust their travel plans as necessary until the situation is resolved and the roadway is declared safe for public use. Further updates are expected as assessment and clearance efforts progress.
