Tunnel to Towers Foundation Honors Veterans Day by Providing Mortgage-Free Homes and Breaking Ground on Veterans Villages
This Veterans Day, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is making a significant impact on the lives of veterans and their families across the United States. The foundation, born from the tragedy of 9/11, is committed to its mission of “doing good” by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families, as well as building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders[2][3].
In honor of Veterans Day, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has delivered 40 mortgage-free homes to families of fallen service members and first responders. One such family is that of Army Sergeant William Rivers, who was killed in a drone attack in Jordan on January 28, 2024. The foundation has paid off the mortgage for his family in Carrollton, Georgia, providing them with stability and peace of mind during a difficult time[2].
Beyond providing mortgage-free homes, the foundation is also addressing veteran homelessness. On November 7, Tunnel to Towers broke ground on its newest Veterans Village in Denver, Colorado, which will be converted from a hotel into 120 units of single occupancy affordable housing for veterans. Similar projects are underway in Buffalo, New York, Detroit, Michigan, and North Charleston, South Carolina, aiming to create over 400 homes for veterans in these areas. Each Veterans Village will offer comprehensive 24/7 supportive services to help veterans achieve financial stability and independence.
Tunnel to Towers CEO and Chairman, Frank Siller, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to supporting veterans and their families. “This Veterans Day, we honor those who served by extending a hand to those who have struggled since they returned home. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation wants to deliver a clear message – that you have not been forgotten, and we will not stop until every veteran who served this country is off its streets,” Siller said.
The foundation’s efforts are part of a broader initiative to eradicate veteran homelessness, with a goal to provide housing assistance to over 10,000 veterans by the end of the year. Individuals can support this mission by donating $11 a month through the foundation’s website, T2T.org.
