Turkey Germany Eurobasket Final

RIGA, Latvia (AP) — Turkey will play Germany in the EuroBasket final this Sunday, marking Turkey’s first trip to the championship game in 24 years. The highly anticipated matchup takes place at Arena Riga, starting at 2 p.m. ET. Both teams come into the final undefeated, with 8-0 records in the tournament.

Turkey secured their spot in the final after a decisive 94-68 victory against Greece in the semifinals on Friday. Alperen Sengun led Turkey with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists. The team showcased their strong defense, creating turnovers that led to quick points and dominating the second quarter.

Germany earned their place in the final by defeating Finland 98-86, led by Dennis Schröder‘s impressive performance of 26 points and 12 assists. Franz Wagner contributed 22 points, including crucial back-to-back three-pointers in the second quarter.

Currently, Sengun is averaging 20.8 points per game throughout the tournament, while Schröder has made a significant impact for Germany. With several players from the NBA representing both teams, fans are eager to see how the younger stars will perform on such a big stage.

Germany’s previous victory in a friendly against Turkey adds another layer of intrigue to this encounter. They won that game 73-71 at the DBB Supercup. As the teams face each other for the title, both will aim to maintain their perfect records.

The winner will join Slovenia, the only team to win the EuroBasket title while remaining undefeated, achieving that feat in 2017.
