SEATTLE, Wash. — A Japan Airlines aircraft collided with a parked Delta Air Lines plane at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) on Wednesday morning, officials confirmed. The incident occurred just after 10:15 a.m. local time on a taxi lane between the S Concourse and the south airport maintenance hangars.

According to a statement posted on X by SEA officials, the Japan Airlines plane “appears to have struck” the tail of the Delta aircraft while taxiing. No injuries were reported, and passengers from both planes were safely deplaned and transported to the terminal.

“There is minimal impact to airport operations as this occurred on a taxi lane,” the airport stated. Passengers were advised to check with their airlines for updates on their flights.

The incident comes exactly one week after a midair collision between a passenger plane and an Army Black Hawk helicopter near Washington, D.C., which resulted in 67 fatalities. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the Seattle collision.

This is the latest in a series of aviation incidents this week. On Monday, Delta Flight 2090, carrying 158 passengers from New York’s JFK Airport to Orlando, was diverted to Raleigh due to an “odor in the cabin.” The cause remains under investigation. Additionally, a flight on Sunday was evacuated at an undisclosed location due to a reported engine issue, according to the FAA.

Footage shared by a passenger on the Sunday flight showed the plane’s wing catching fire during takeoff. Passengers were safely evacuated and transported to the terminal, with no injuries reported.

SEA officials are working with both Japan Airlines and Delta Air Lines to assess the damage and ensure the safety of passengers and crew. The FAA has not yet released further details on the cause of the collision.
