Two Dead, Nine Injured in Conway Park Shooting

CONWAY, Ark. — The Conway Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night near 5th Avenue Park, resulting in two fatalities and nine injuries. Local law enforcement agencies are assisting in the investigation as police continue to gather information about the incident.
According to officials, the shooting left 11 victims in total. While two individuals died due to their injuries, nine others were transported to nearby hospitals and are currently reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area surrounding 5th Avenue Park while the investigation is underway. They have also encouraged anyone with information related to the shooting to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 501-450-6130.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as shots rang out, prompting parkgoers to flee in fear. “There’s been a shootout this evening in Conway at one of the parks. We were out and saw the massive police response but were already home before we found out what happened,” one witness shared on social media.
Another resident, who was at the park during the incident, recounted, “I was there. They started shooting right next to me. Two people are dead as of right now, I think four were shot.” More than once, witnesses reported seeing numerous emergency vehicles rush to the scene.
The Conway Police Department released a statement via Facebook, urging residents to keep away from the area. “We are asking the public to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing,” the post stated. “Further details will be released as they become available.”
