Two Fatal Shootings Under Investigation in Florida

PLANT CITY, Fla. — Police are investigating a shooting incident that left one man dead and another injured on Sunday night. The Plant City Police Department reported that officers were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to East Warren Street following reports of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, officers discovered one man deceased inside a vehicle, while another victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. The injured man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.

In a separate incident, a homicide occurred in Pinellas Park the same evening, emphasizing a troubling rise in violent crime in the area. The Pinellas Park Police Department reported that they responded to gunfire near 35th St. North and Applewood Terrace.

Police learned that Jose Vanegas-Letcher, 28, shot Stanley McSwain Jr., 31, multiple times following a dispute at a residence. Emergency responders took McSwain to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His death marks yet another instance of gun violence in the region.

Vanegas-Letcher has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, reflecting the serious nature of the crime that has shocked the local community.
