DALLAS, Texas — Five people were shot, including two fatal casualties, late Monday night at a pedestrian bridge in West Dallas amid a dispute between two groups, police reported.

Officers responded to a shooting call shortly before 11 p.m. at the intersection of Canada Drive and Gulden Lane, near the bridge that runs parallel to the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge over the Trinity River.

According to the Dallas Police Department, three victims were transported to the hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue; 18-year-old Abdulla Al Badry was pronounced dead upon arrival. A second victim remains hospitalized, while a third victim was treated and released.

Later in the night, investigators learned that two additional victims sought medical treatment at a local hospital. Nineteen-year-old Osvaldo Gutierrez was pronounced dead there, while another individual was treated and released.

Authorities announced that 18-year-old Manuel Alvarez and 19-year-old Fernando Sanchez have been arrested in connection to the shootings. Both individuals face charges of murder and aggravated assault, though it is unclear if they currently have legal representation.

Police have not disclosed the nature of the argument that led to the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.

The incident has drawn attention to ongoing concerns about gun violence in the region, as local leaders urge community engagement to prevent further tragedies.
