Two Shot Dead Outside Capital Jewish Museum in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man and a woman were shot and killed outside the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday night. The double shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. near an FBI office building at 300 F Street NW, according to D.C. police.
Officers arrived to find the victims suffering from gunshot wounds. They were unconscious and not breathing. Homicide detectives were called to the scene, and both were pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is now involved in the investigation, as authorities are searching for a suspect described as a white man with a goatee, last seen wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans.
The American Jewish Committee (AJC) was hosting an event at the museum during the shooting. In a statement, the organization expressed devastation over the violence, stating, ‘We are devastated that an unspeakable act of violence took place outside the venue.’
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon also reacted to the incident, describing the shooting as a ‘depraved act of anti-Semitic terrorism.’ He noted that at least one of the victims was believed to be connected to the Israeli Embassy.
Authorities have confirmed that one victim was indeed a member of the Israeli Embassy staff. The investigation remains ongoing as police gather more information.
