Tyler Herro Miami Heat Injury News

MIAMI, Florida – Tyler Herro, the Miami Heat‘s All-Star guard, will undergo surgery today on his left foot and ankle, the Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang reported. This news comes as the team prepares for the 2025-26 NBA season, which begins in October.

The injury is particularly disappointing for Miami, as Herro was expected to play a crucial role in their offense following a stellar season in 2024-25, where he averaged 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.5 assists over 77 games. He also boasted impressive shooting percentages of 47.2% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range.

Without Herro, who has been the team’s leading scorer, Miami will need to adjust their offensive strategy. All-Star Bam Adebayo is likely to take on a larger offensive role, although he is already tasked with significant defensive responsibilities.

New addition Norman Powell, a seasoned shooter, could help fill the void left by Herro’s absence. Last season, Powell averaged 21.8 points per game on shooting splits of 48% from the field, 42% from beyond the arc, and 80% from the free-throw line.

Younger players such as Pelle Larsson, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kasparas Jakucionis may also see increased playing time as head coach Erik Spoelstra looks to build a competitive lineup without Herro.

Currently, there is uncertainty surrounding the length of Herro’s recovery. His absence could range from a few games to several months, as this is not the first time he has faced injuries. In the 2023-24 season, Herro played in just 42 of 82 games.

Miami fans will be eagerly watching for updates regarding Herro’s condition and recovery progress as the start of training camp approaches.

The Heat are set to begin their training camp on Sept. 30 and hold their annual media day on Sept. 29 at Kaseya Center. They will kick off the preseason on Oct. 4 against the Orlando Magic in Puerto Rico, with the regular season opening on Oct. 22 in Orlando.
