Typhoon Nakri North Pacific Ocean

Tokyo, Japan — Typhoon Nakri developed in the North Pacific Ocean late Tuesday, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. This storm poses a risk to several coastal areas known for experiencing typhoon activity.

Typhoon season spans the entire year, though most storms typically form between early July and mid-December. These powerful storms usually impact countries such as the Philippines, Japan, and Taiwan, with damaging winds and storm surges causing significant disruption.

In addition to these nations, the Korean Peninsula, China, and Vietnam can also face the wrath of typhoons. The United States territories are not exempt; they have also suffered extensive damage during storm seasons. This was evident when Guam suffered significant destruction from Super Typhoon Mawar in May 2023.

Authorities are closely monitoring Typhoon Nakri’s path and intensity as it progresses through the Pacific. Residents in areas likely to be affected are advised to prepare and stay informed.
