Jason Goes To Hell 4k Release

Arrow Video has announced plans for a 4K Ultra HD release of the 1993 film ‘Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday’. This development was confirmed by the film’s director Adam Marcus, who has overseen the restoration process. The announcement has generated interest among fans eager to see Jason Voorhees in high definition. “I just supervised the 4K restoration, color timing, and clean up with cinematographer William Dill,” Marcus stated. “It’s the uncut version and it’s never looked better,” he added.

Although the release date for the 4K edition remains unconfirmed, reports of the project began circulating on social media after a card included in Arrow’s upcoming promotional materials hinted at the forthcoming release. Marcus has since clarified these reports, confirming the uncut version of the film’s restoration.

The release of ‘Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday’ in high resolution follows Arrow Video’s successful 4K edition of the 2009 ‘Friday the 13th‘, which quickly sold out, indicating a robust demand for high-quality revisitations of the franchise.

Originally released in 1993, ‘Jason Goes to Hell’ experienced a mixed reception. Though it grossed over $15 million against a $3 million budget, it was the second-lowest performer in the franchise at that time. Critic and fan responses were largely negative, positioning it as one of the most divisive entries in the ‘Friday the 13th’ series.

The film, notable for diverging from traditional depictions of the character, features Jason Voorhees possessing various characters instead of appearing physically. As such, it is often viewed as the black sheep of the franchise, a sentiment echoed by some fans and critics despite its memorable moments, including graphic gore sequences.

Recent developments in the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise include A24 and Peacock‘s ongoing efforts to produce a ‘Crystal Lake‘ TV series. However, a new film installment has not been announced.
