Undiscovered Easter Egg in Spider-Man: No Way Home Revealed
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — More than three years after its release, Spider-Man: No Way Home still holds one final mystery: an undiscovered Easter egg that even the most dedicated fans have yet to uncover. Director Jon Watts and writer Christopher Ford revealed the hidden nod during an interview about their upcoming Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew.
Watts and Ford, who collaborated on the 2021 blockbuster, confirmed that the Easter egg is not tied to Marvel lore but instead references their own early work. “There is an Easter egg in No Way Home that no one has found,” Watts told ScreenRant. “It’s a hard one, but people found a lot of our intentionally placed Easter eggs. There’s some very, very deep-cut references to dumb videos that Ford and I made on YouTube a long time ago.”
Ford added, “People pick up the ones that are from super famous movies. And then the ones that are references to our own short films, somehow people don’t know those ones.”
Before their work on Spider-Man: No Way Home, Watts and Ford created short films with other Brooklyn-based filmmakers, including Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier, under the YouTube channel waverlyflams. Their early projects, such as the 2014 horror film Clown and the 2015 thriller Cop Car, laid the groundwork for their later success in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Spider-Man: No Way Home, which grossed $1.9 billion worldwide, is packed with references to previous Spider-Man films and the broader MCU. However, this particular Easter egg stands out for its personal connection to the filmmakers’ past. Fans eager to uncover the hidden detail may need to revisit Watts and Ford’s early YouTube videos for clues.
This isn’t the first time Marvel filmmakers have hidden obscure Easter eggs in their work. James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy series, has long teased fans with an undiscovered reference in the first Guardians film. Similarly, No Way Home’s hidden nod underscores the playful creativity of Marvel’s directors and writers.
As fans continue to dissect every frame of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the search for this elusive Easter egg adds another layer of intrigue to the film’s legacy. Whether it will ever be found remains to be seen, but Watts and Ford’s revelation ensures that the hunt is far from over.
