Undisputed Boxing Game

The newly released boxing video game, Undisputed, developed by Steel City Interactive, launches on October 8, 2024, for those who pre-ordered the World Boxing Council (WBC) edition. The game will be available in stores worldwide beginning October 11, 2024. This development comes after a significant hiatus in the release of realistic boxing video games, the last being the Fight Night series over a decade ago.

Undisputed boasts an impressive roster comprising 81 unique fighters across various weight classes. The game includes both current and former boxing legends, featuring 12 current and 38 former world champions. The roster extends across multiple divisions with prominent fighters such as Muhammad Ali, Tyson Fury, and Sugar Ray Robinson, each applied with ratings commensurate with their skill, statues, and career achievements.

Early reviews of the game highlight its Career Mode as a standout feature, offering players an opportunity to rise through the ranks in a fashion that mimics real-life boxing careers. Character customization options are extensive, allowing players to craft unique fighters or emulate real-world boxers. The Career Mode involves character development through training, fight negotiations, and promotions, which impact a player’s success within the boxing world.

However, despite these strong points, the game has drawn some criticism. The combat mechanics, though realistic, have been noted to slow down the gameplay, particularly at the beginning of Career Mode when character stats are low. Reviewers have noted that the realistic fighting may appeal to some enthusiasts but could be tedious for players seeking a more fast-paced arcade experience.

Multiplayer interactions bring another layer of competition, although balancing issues have been observed, with players often choosing the stronger characters such as Muhammad Ali and Canelo Alvarez. This could lead to an imbalance in online fights, a point of concern for competitive players.

The Undisputed development team appears aware of these issues. Post-launch content is anticipated, which could include additional fighters and updates designed to enhance gameplay experience and improve shortcomings noted by critics and users alike.
