During a public event in Gubbi, Tumakuru, Union Minister V Somanna made a grave error by mistakenly announcing the death of senior BJP functionary and former deputy PM Lalkrishna Advani.

Somanna, who was addressing a gathering of BJP-JD(S) workers, requested a moment of silence upon hearing the false news, which had apparently been spread by local BJP workers.

The event, organized to felicitate Somanna and the Tumkur MP, took a somber turn as the Minister announced the postponement of the program and observed a two-minute silence.

Shortly after the mistake was realized, Somanna publicly apologized for the error, attributing it to misinformation.

Another BJP MP, Dr Manjunath, repeated the same error at a separate event in Kunigal, where he too asked attendees to observe a minute of silence for Advani’s supposed passing.

Both Somanna and Dr Manjunath expressed regret and blamed the spread of false information on social media, leading to confusion among party workers and supporters.
