USC and Notre Dame Prepare for Rivalry Clash This Weekend

Los Angeles, California – As the USC Trojans get set to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this Saturday, both teams are looking to strengthen their rushing games. Trojan fans are eager to see running back Waymond Jordan continue to shine after his standout performances in previous games.
Jordan, who was named the offensive MVP at the JUCO level, had a slow start against Purdue. However, his teammates Eli Sanders and King Miller stepped in to support the offense. By the fourth quarter, Jordan found his rhythm, showcasing his unique running style.
USC’s coaching staff, led by Coach Lincoln Riley, has emphasized the importance of a versatile run game. With Bryan Jackson also in the mix, USC boasts what they refer to as a four-headed monster at running back.
“It’s encouraging that we can rely on multiple players,” Jordan said. “We’re going to need that depth with tough opponents coming up.”
On the other side, Notre Dame’s ground attack is also a point of focus, particularly the talents of running back Jeremiyah Love. Love, who accumulated 1,125 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns last season, aims to bounce back from a disappointing start this year.
Love has already recorded 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns this season. Defensive coordinator Mike Scherer highlighted the team’s need to account for both Love and fellow running back Jadarian Price, who has 113 yards this season. “We need to keep their run game in check,” Scherer noted. “Both backs can do it all.”
Last week, Notre Dame’s run game was strong, combining for 162 yards and three touchdowns. Even though the Irish have started the season 0-2, they remain confident in their offensive capabilities.
Purdue is preparing for the challenge, with Scherer stating that the Trojans have effective players that can catch passes out of the backfield as well. “We’re going to have to be ready for a lot of different looks,” he added.
As both teams gear up for the anticipated matchup in South Bend, players and coaches from both sides recognize the significance of performing at their best.
