Uttarakhand Assembly By-Election 2024 Result Live: Congress Secures Victory in both Mangalore and Badrinath Vidhan Sabha Seats
The by-elections for the two legislative assembly seats in Uttarakhand took place on July 10. The Mangalore seat was vacant after the unfortunate demise of the BSP MLA, and the Badrinath seat saw a shift from the Congress candidate to BJP before the Lok Sabha elections. Today, the results for both seats are out, with Congress clinching victories on both fronts.
In the latest updates, discussions about a recount are emerging, particularly in the Mangalore constituency. The Chief Electoral Officer, Vijay Kumar Jogdande, confirms that the counting in Mangalore is complete. Nonetheless, an application for recounting has been submitted by the opposing candidate. The final decision on the recount will be made by the Regional Officer.
As the 15th round of counting in Badrinath unfolds, it reveals:
– Congress candidate Lakhpat Butola: 27,696 votes
– BJP candidate Rajendra Bhandari: 22,601 votes
After the 14th round:
– Congress candidate Lakhpat Butola: 22,302 votes
– BJP candidate Rajendra Bhandari: 13,524 votes
– NOTA: 54 votes
– Total votes: 3,788
Results after the 13th round in Badrinath:
– Congress candidate Lakhpat Butola: 1,850 votes
– BJP candidate Rajendra Bhandari: 1,296 votes
– NOTA: 38 votes
– Total votes: 3,272
The outcome is clearly evident as Congress candidate Lakhpat Butola maintains a significant lead over his rival in the 12th round, securing 3,642 votes.
