Uzbekistan Airways Secures Largest Order in History With Boeing

NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2025 — Uzbekistan Airways has announced a historic deal with Boeing to acquire up to 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, marking the airline’s largest purchase to date. The agreement includes an order for 14 787-9 jets and options for an additional eight.
This deal was revealed during the United Nations General Assembly, with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan joining leaders from Boeing and Uzbekistan Airways to celebrate the occasion. The deal is valued at over $8 billion and is expected to support nearly 35,000 jobs in the U.S.
“With this new contract, we are further strengthening our airline’s and our nation’s position as a leading aviation hub in Central Asia,” said Shukhrat Khudaikulov, Chairman of Uzbekistan Airways. He emphasized the importance of the Dreamliner for expanding global connectivity and sustainable growth.
Uzbekistan Airways is the first operator of the 787 in Central Asia, currently using its fleet to connect destinations in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. The new 787-9 model will enhance the airline’s capacity, allowing it to add more international routes and meet increased demand for long-haul travel.
Brad McMullen, Boeing’s senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, stated, “We value our nearly 30-year partnership with Uzbekistan Airways and will continue to support their growth strategy.”
The 787 Dreamliner is recognized for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, significantly reducing fuel usage compared to previous models. This order positions Uzbekistan Airways to further expand its international market presence.
Boeing continues to play a pivotal role in the global aerospace industry, and this deal reinforces its commitment to innovation and economic opportunities across the U.S.
