New Delhi, India — U.S. Vice President JD Vance shared a memorable family photograph at the Taj Mahal on Thursday, showcasing a blend of the monument’s beauty and the joyous spirit of his family during their trip to India.

In a post on X, Vance appeared with his wife, Second Lady Usha Vance, and their three children, who donned traditional Indian attire. The photo highlighted the family’s experience, although the bright sun made the children squint in a charming way. Vance humorously noted, “With three little kids staring into the sun, this was actually the best photo we got at the Taj Mahal today.”

The Vances dressed appropriately for the summer heat. JD wore a navy blazer over a pale blue shirt and beige trousers, while Usha looked elegant in a striped midi dress. Their sons, Ewan and Vivek, were coordinated in bandhgala kurtas and pyjamas, and their daughter Mirabel wore a stylish striped blouse with flared pants.

Prior to visiting the Taj Mahal, the family toured Delhi’s Akshardham Temple and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. This meeting left a strong impression on the family, especially on seven-year-old Ewan. During a speech at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur, Vance recalled, “My son Ewan said, ‘Dad, I think I can live in India’ after enjoying the dinner at the Prime Minister’s house, which he found delicious and kind.”

However, after a tough day under the Jaipur sun exploring Amber Fort, Ewan humorously reconsidered, suggesting a move to England instead.

During their India visit earlier this year, Vance reflected on the warm rapport established with Modi. He mentioned how the Prime Minister made an effort to wish his son Vivek a happy birthday and presented him a gift, which deeply touched the Vance family.

Vance stated about Modi, “He managed to figure out that my second son was turning five in Paris. Amid an international policy conference, he took the time to stop by where I was staying and wish Vivek a very happy birthday. Usha and I were genuinely touched by his graciousness.”

The Vance family’s experiences in India, marked by cultural connections and meaningful moments, are expected to facilitate a deeper personal and diplomatic relationship moving forward.
