Veteran News Anchor Donna Gregory Passes Away After Battle with Lung Cancer
Donna Gregory, a well-respected and veteran news anchor in North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer. Gregory, who was diagnosed in April, had shared her health journey with her viewers on air and took a leave to undergo treatment.
Gregory had a distinguished career in the broadcast industry, having worked at several prominent news stations. She spent nearly 10 years at WRAL News in Raleigh and also worked at WCNC, as well as NBC and MSNBC. More recently, she was part of the news team at WWAY, a CBS and ABC-affiliated station in Wilmington, since 2019.
Her family was by her side throughout her illness and announced her passing on her official social media page. They described her as the heart of every room she entered, known for her warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved. Gregory was surrounded by her four children in her final days and leaves behind siblings, two grandchildren, and a son- and daughter-in-law.
Gregory’s family remembered her as a listener, cheerleader, and avid supporter of the arts. Her final weeks were filled with the same love and strength she shared throughout her life, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and resilience.
