The Voice Season 27 Shifts to Weekly Episodes, Coaches Share Insights
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Season 27 of NBC‘s hit singing competition, *The Voice*, premiered on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, with a major schedule change and heartfelt moments among the coaches. Unlike previous seasons, which aired new episodes on both Mondays and Tuesdays, this season will primarily feature one new episode per week, airing exclusively on Mondays at 8/7c during the Blind Auditions through the Playoffs. Only the Live Shows will include some Tuesday episodes, with more details to be announced closer to the season finale in May.
First-time coach Kelsea Ballerini, 31, received a touching welcome from Reba McEntire, who left a letter and her iconic crown on Ballerini’s chair. “Dear Kelsea, I heard you would be the new coach this season and I’m just so excited for you. It’s up to you to keep country alive on the show, and I know you’ll do a terrific job,” McEntire, 69, wrote. She also encouraged Ballerini to “show those boys who’s the boss” and left her crown as a good luck charm.
Ballerini, who joins returning coaches Adam Levine, Michael Bublé, and John Legend, expressed her excitement by placing the crown on her head, saying, “I feel so fancy.” She quickly made her mark by securing two contestants, Angie Rey and Dan Kiernan, for her team during the premiere.
The season kicked off with a collaborative performance of Elton John‘s “Tiny Dancer,” featuring Legend on piano, Bublé and Ballerini on vocals, and Levine hitting the high notes. The performance set the tone for a season focused on mentorship and artistry.
Michael Bublé, 49, shared his philosophy on coaching during an interview with NBC Insider. “Be empathetic and warm and to always realize that [the artists] are a mirror image of you and where you’ve been and where you’ve come [from],” he said. Bublé emphasized the show’s commitment to the artists, stating, “This is about the artists, for the artists. It’s not about us.”
Ballerini, who previously appeared on *The Voice* as a guest coach and battle advisor, reflected on the unique challenges of being a coach. “I’ve gotten to the point where, if people don’t like my music, I’m like, ‘Fair enough. Not everything is for everyone,'” she said in an October interview. “This is the first time I was putting myself in a position where people are just not going to like me.”
Fans can catch new episodes of *The Voice* every Monday at 8/7c on NBC, with episodes available the next day on Peacock. The season promises a mix of heartfelt moments, fierce competition, and unforgettable performances as the coaches guide their teams toward the finale.
