VTuber Stream Hours Decline as Hololive Teams Up with Twitch
Tokyo, Japan — In the third quarter of 2025, broadcast and watch hours for VTubers saw a noticeable decline, despite a successful year overall for the genre. COVER Corporation has announced a new collaboration with streaming platform Twitch, dubbed “holoday.” This event is set to debut on November 20, bringing together talents from hololive Indonesia, hololive English, and HOLOSTARS English.
A report by Streams Charts and VStats detailed the analytics of VTuber streams, revealing a significant drop in watched hours from 527.55 million in Q2 to 462.46 million in Q3. This represents a 12.3% dip, attributed to several factors including a reduction in the total hours streamed.
The report indicates that major news in the VTuber community, such as talents leaving their agencies for independent streaming, also contributed to the decline. Despite this setback, the beginning of 2025 has been record-breaking for many VTubers, setting high benchmarks compared to the previous year.
In terms of viewership, hololive’s Usada Pekora and Sakura Miko topped the charts, while Nijisanji’s Kuzuha secured third place for the most-watched VTubers in Q3. Among English-speaking VTubers, Michi Mochievee and Koseki Bijou led the pack, with notable mentions for Deme from the Philippines and the AI-powered VTuber Neuro-sama.
According to the report, hololive holds an 18.5% share of total VTuber hours watched in Q3, coming second to independent creators who account for 42.2%. Nijisanji follows closely with an 18% share. The platform statistics reveal that while Twitch hosts 78.4% of VTuber channels, YouTube dominates in watch hours with a 58.5% share, despite fewer VTuber content creators.
With the upcoming “holoday” collaboration, the impact on Twitch’s statistics and the overall VTuber viewership landscape remains to be seen. For ongoing updates and news, esports.gg promises to cover the latest in the streaming world.
