Weather Alert: Soaking Rain Expected Wednesday in Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON — A Weather Impact Alert is in effect as the D.C. area prepares for soaking rain on Wednesday. Forecasts predict cloudy skies with breezy conditions, accompanied by widespread rain and drizzle throughout the day.
High temperatures are expected to reach between 55 to 60 degrees, with winds from the east at 10 to 15 mph. Rain is predicted to be heaviest in the morning, tapering off into Wednesday evening. Lows will drop into the 50s with southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph.
This rainfall comes after a wet week for the region, causing concerns for commuters. Residents are advised to plan for additional travel time as conditions are likely to be damp and cool.
“It’s essential to swap out your sunglasses for an umbrella,” said a local meteorologist. “This rain could cause challenges for both morning and evening commutes.”
The forecast for Thursday and Friday indicates a mix of sun and clouds, although some scattered showers may still occur. High temperatures will rise to 65-70 degrees under partly sunny skies.
Looking ahead to Memorial Day weekend, early forecasts suggest mainly dry conditions with highs in the 70s. However, a disturbance might bring a few clouds and isolated showers late in the weekend.
Residents have been keeping a close eye on flood conditions, especially concerning the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers, which have seen rising waters. A flood watch remains in effect for various areas.
As the week progresses, fluctuations in weather patterns may lead to additional rain chances by mid-week next week.
