Weather changes coming for Tucson as Thanksgiving approaches
TUCSON, Ariz. – A warm stretch of weather is expected to shift in the coming days as moisture begins to move into southern Arizona. According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, bright and dry conditions will continue until late Friday, when the first signs of change appear.
Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny and warm, with highs around 87°F. Light southeast winds will keep conditions pleasant. However, by Friday, clouds will start to build as a weak weather system crosses the area, increasing the chance of rain to 20-30 percent.
The best chance for light rain is forecasted for Friday evening and into Saturday morning, particularly along the I-10 corridor between Tucson and Benson. Rainfall totals are expected to be light, generally under a quarter inch, but brief downpours could interrupt outdoor plans.
Travelers and event organizers are advised to prepare for damp road conditions and cooler air settling in by Saturday, with highs dropping to around 80°F and further cooling into the upper 60s by Sunday. Despite the lighter rain, conditions could still affect early holiday setups.
As the week progresses, a return to drier air and sunny skies is anticipated for early next week. Long-range forecasts hint at another moisture surge around midweek, potentially leading to a “winter tease” before Thanksgiving week travel starts.
Early risers may still encounter communication issues today as residual effects from the recent G4 solar storm linger across the region, although most systems have stabilized overnight.
The five-day weather forecast for Tucson shows a slight chance of showers over the weekend, but sunnier, seasonal temperatures are expected early next week.
