Light Rain Forecast Massachusetts April 2025

EAST BOSTON, Mass. — Light showers are anticipated tonight in Massachusetts, with a possibility of a wintry mix developing in the northwestern region. Temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-30s, significantly lower than the seasonal average of 51 degrees for early April.

Weather patterns indicate that tomorrow will bring a transition to warmer temperatures, soaring into the 60s. This may provide some relief following today’s unseasonably cool high of 39 degrees.

The Massachusetts coastline, including Boston and Provincetown, experienced colder temperatures today due to a prevailing breeze from the water. In contrast, western portions of the state saw readings in the upper 40s, close to 50 degrees, as warmer air gradually infiltrates the area.

A meteorological disturbance presently moving through the Midwest has prompted severe weather alerts, including three tornado watch boxes. While Massachusetts will escape the brunt of this storm, local forecasts suggest the region could receive between half an inch and an inch of rain.

“As the warm air pushes in, this may initially cool and mix with the existing cold air, leading to some light snow or sleet in the north,” stated the meteorologist. Although a significant wintry mix isn’t expected, areas at higher elevations, particularly the Berkshires, might see a few scattered snowflakes.

The rain is projected to commence late tonight and transition into steady showers by tomorrow morning. This could create a damp commute, but flooding or severe weather conditions are not anticipated. Around 11 PM tonight, rain will move across the region, potentially mixed with a few flakes or sleet.

Tomorrow’s forecast promises a marked improvement in temperatures, climbing between 54 to 64 degrees, though cooler weather will linger along south-facing coasts. Afternoon conditions will include passing showers before skies begin to clear up.

The upcoming week indicates a return to seasonal averages, with a notable warmup expected for the home opener on Friday. The day is forecast to be partly cloudy with a high of about 66 degrees, though it will also usher in cooler weather for Saturday, reconnecting temperatures to the mid-40s.

Weather forecasts will continue to evolve, but for the immediate outlook, residents should prepare for light showers tonight in the northwestern regions and welcome the warmer temperatures expected tomorrow.
